We're seeking people who are able to quickly adapt to their environment and have the skills to proactively manage situations, and be an effective team member. We're seeking trailblazers to join our team at the Special Commitment Center and assist us in Transforming Lives for the clients we serve.
You'll help maintain the safety and security of all staff, residents, and visitors to the SCC Total Confinement Facility. This includes participation on a quick response or emergency response team. This job is responsible for monitoring general resident activities and resident movement throughout the facility from an assigned post. In addition, you'll assist (along-side a seasoned permanent Security staff) in Dock House/Homeland Security operations, secure resident community escorts and escape response.
**Some of what you'll do:**
* Routinely conduct facility foot patrols to ensure all areas are secure
* Physically respond as a member of a quick response team and/or emergency response team
* Control the main security systems throughout the total confinement facility to ensure appropriate ingress and egress of authorized personnel
* Assign keys to authorized personnel
* Assigns cuffs, restraints, body alarms and radios to SCC employees
* Conducts strip searches of residents
* Utilize radio and other communication devices
* Provide vehicle response and/or foot response
* Provide walking foot patrol
* Intervene on and report any remarkable unauthorized behaviors of the residential population
* Provide visual monitoring of residents
* Provide visual monitoring and security supervision of any resident participating in resident work activities
* Prepare residents for off island transports to include escorting resident to intake room, prepare necessary paperwork and log entries
* Prepare written documents

* Communicate effectively and respectfully with management, peers, visitors and residents
* Highly motivated individuals with demonstrated observation skills
* A self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team
* Perform duties safely; model behavior we expect to see
* Effectively manage working conditions and emergent situations within designated areas or entire facility
**Who should apply?**
Those who have one year of experience as a Security Guard 1.
Two years of experience in areas of work such as: security guard, correctional officer or store investigations, or, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work.
A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission; or, a certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military police training program will substitute for one of the two years of required experience.
The work is intermittent in nature, sporadic and does not fit a particular pattern. This opportunity is temporary and the work hours/days are dependent upon business needs.
